Hi, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a walk-in bath supplier for people with disabilities? I've come across a few suppliers, noticeably - Access Walk-In Baths -Has anyone used them before or can they recommend anyone else? John

Yes Stanl,

It's a walk-in bath I'm I need of.

Any thoughts?

Sorry, only fitted one and we took it out after 2 weeks, the lady who used it said it took 20 minutes to fill while she sat in it, and then she had to wait another 10 minutes while it emptied enough to open the door, we fitted an accessible shower for her instead.

I know of an old lady who spent a fortune having one fitted downstairs and she only used it once. Hers took something like 30 minutes to fill and an age to empty.

put a couple in for folks. My advice is go for a standard bath shape with a door in the side and a canvas or hard lifting seat to aid getting out. DO NOT GO NEAR the specialist companies advertising the baths including fitting etc, you will pay through the nose fot them. Get an independent plumber to purchase the bath through his merchant, i used this companies product, Walk in Baths, Bath Hoists & Disabled Showers | Gainsborough which are very good, not cheap at over ÂŁ2000 but they are built to last and carry upto 26 stone fm memory. be careful about sizing and access into the bathroom they are built around a frame and are heavy. fill and empty as per a standard bath and you can get out using the chair lift.
