Those little 24hour mechanical clocks, are they standard on all older boilers such as the ones seen in old Alpha Combis etc, I only ask as I have to change one in a heatline, but they want 100 odd quid for one, they are identical looking others for 10-30 quid!!
 
buy a 20 pound one from hwos

A further look into the clocks revealed some are 240v, the heatline ones are 24v, although euro boiler parts do suitable one apparently but it's 12-15v... Still 50 quid including delivery for a little cheap clock :(
 
Take it out, link cables and fit a single channel programmer somewhere near?
