So I'm about to disconnect my washing machine after reading wikihow and I'm not faced with the two water valves to turn off. The pipe thats connected has no valve??

Could anyone please help?

As mentioned above really. You have 2 options which will work.

if you are leaving it disconnect for a while eg months/years

install a 3/4 cap on the end of the washing machine valve
 
Cheers Shaun, we're selling the place so I'd expect the next owner to be putting theirs in in a couple of days.
