Is it possible to buy tap spindles separately instead of changing the whole tap?

Went to a job this morning where the tap looked fine, but the (non-rising) spindle was somewhat damaged. I'd have liked to change just that instead of the whole tap.

A quick search has yielded nothing yet, but then I haven't had a chance to go talk to my local merchant.

deva do a pretty handy tap conversion kit. There are also a few different kinds in screw fix. think they are called tap restorers.

Best is Bristan Tap Reviver Kit, available for 1/2" and 3/4" taps and also available for quarter turn taps. An invaluable piece of kit and I always carry several of them in stock. I buy mine from PTS. B&Q sell similar kits as do Screwfix.

A tap kit is fitted in about 5 minutes.

B&Q used to sell them for ÂŁ1.98 each and I bought ten at a time and they work fine, now they are ÂŁ4.98 each so I don't buy as many.

Agree, B&Q do spindles - single ones & pairs. They do 1/4 turn (ceramic disc) & ordinary types. Just be careful the old head fits the splines. They have them in various different spline widths. Tip is, to take the old head with you to check it fits, not the old spindle! Keep any brass bolts that hold the heads on old spindles as the new spindles are sometimes different threads at the top.
You would need a box with divisions & buy a selection of spare spindles to put in it. Saves you time later, when you have them at hand.
