I have a new butane/propane torch with a fine flame. I cant use it with solder ring fittings because no matter what I try the solder doesnt appear at the joint. Can anybody help?

It appears to me the torch you are using is not producing enough heat to melt the solder.
Remember copper is a very good conductor of heat. Get a bigger torch.

I bought the rothenberger quick fire and works really well the flame almost wraps around the fitting thus heating all the way round and getting even soldering.

Monument do a good piezo burner head that will fit most Propane / MAPP cylinders.

Model number 3440c

maybe think about the way you weld
get he pipes equal heat then draw the solder out!!!

the solder will follow the heat!!! so if your flame is to wards the back of the fitting it will all go to the back!!! if you use a enfeed fitting then directing the heat to the back would be ok
