Hello.
Could anyone please advise, if a Smart Meter for the Gas supply to a house would require a connection to its domestic electricity supply?

Thank you, Pete.

Smart meters beware, often if you change your supplier then your smart meter ceases to work and causes endless problems. Wait till they roll out the universal smart meter

Simon, Thanks again but as a single man living on my own, consumption is not an issue.
Murdock, Rest assured I do not want one.
Rob, I too am awaiting the arrival of the later meters, hopefully before
I am forced to have one.
Thank you all.

The supplier can not force one on you ....

Some types may, but many (most?) have a long-life ('10 years') battery and phone the mothership when it needs replacing. That's the theory, anyway...

Check with your supplier what they are offering.

How has it changed your behaviour?

Made me replace cylinder star as hot water was burning through the gas. Tightened up the times on the programmer. Getting rid of the tumble drier. Changed all lights to led's.

Just makes you much more aware of what you are using and spending.

Yep, LED's are very good value nowadays especially if you have a number of low voltage dichroic spots that just drink juice. I've had LED lamps for a number of years, not sure if I can get away with removing the tumble dryer just yet...

Well, not unless I want to find my testicles hanging on the washing line instead. ;)
