Small in dents on bender former

Does any one have any tips on removing small in dents in a benders former? There marking the pipe. Guessing wire wool or emery cloth?

I normally just give them a rub with some wire wool.

File any raised lumps off using a half round file and then use emery cloth and steel wool.
Or buy a new former and scrap the old one

Thought about that but a former wasn't too far off the price of a new bender.
