Discuss Replacing Old Pumps - Payback Time in the Plumbing Jobs | The Job-board area at PlumbersForums.net

Thinking about replacing an old Wilo Gold 50 as Wilo say the payback would be about 2 years given the electricity savings. Looks like they suggest a Yonos PICO 25/1-6. Any thoughts on this?

Wilo will have the theoretical savings based on a possible maximum usage.
There will be a huge difference between a heating system on for say, 5 hours a day and fully controlled to shut off with zone stats, verse a more basic set up where the pump will run non stop.
The Wilo 50 will probably outlast the new A rated electronics.

When manufacturers etc quote the pay back period alert bells ring .. it might be based on loony annual usage , to get their idealised so called savings more interesting. If it ain’t broke do not fix it Rob Foster

It is similar to buying a 20k car because it will do 10 miles more to the gallon compared to your perfectly good old car. :)
