Discuss Removing broken 22mm waste pipe from elbow joint in the USA Plumbers Advice area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi All,

I'm about to install a new Macerator unit in a downstairs cloakroom and was planning on using the waste pipe from the previous unit. The problem is the old UPVC 22mm has broken off inside the elbow joint that goes into the wall.

Does anyone know the best way to remove the broken part of the 22mm pipe without damaging the existing elbow joint? I'd rather not have to dig out the wall to replace the whole section.

Pic attached to show how the pipe has broken.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
Dan

Looks like 32mm to me

Thanks for the suggestions all, in the end I heated up a 19mm socket wrench bit with a heat gun, held it inside the elbow joint for a minute which enabled me to pull the old broken pipe out of the joint with some needle pliers.

Worked really well and has left a clean surface for me to attach a new piece of 22mm pipe into the joint!
