Hi all,

I hope this is the right category.

I woke up this morning in a cold house with no hot hot either. (It's a rent flat).

My boiler Potterton Prima F50 is continuously running, I can see fire inside, it's making the usual noise apart of that gurgling water noise.
I checked the thermostat, the programmer, all fine. The thermostat makes that click when I turn it but it doesn't seem to switch on/off the boiler.
The red pump seems to be running, it makes a buzz. All pipes around the tank are cold.
The valve is on Hot Water position at the moment.

Back to the boiler, it appeared that it lost some pressure. The gauge was lower than usual and I saw a bit if water under the overflow pipe outside the building. I topped up the preasure to 1 bar (as usual) but still no luck.

I have British Gas coming in tomorrow but I wonder if is anything I can do to get some heating tonight?

Thank you

As its rented tbh I wouldn't touch anything incase you make it worse

Sorry

Well, I don't mean taking the boiler apart but sometimes can be a quick fix.

I just wonder if it's the boiler or it's a fault within the system (pipes, valve, punp etc)?

I think you've checked all the obvious stuff.

Fortunately, it's National Hug a Plumber Day so if you need to keep warm you just need to find a plumber and hug them real tight.

Sounds like a stuck diverter valve to me, not a diy or five minute fix.

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...

Hi everyone, Looking for a bit of advice, recently went to a job where heating was operating when called for however not for the hot water. I have changed the 3 port actuator Honeywell head however this doesn’t seem to have solved the issue, does this mean that the programmer is faulty? Or is...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks

Every two weeks or so I have to go and top up the system because the hot taps are running cold. Boiler display is flashing 0.6 bar and I fill up to 1.3. I've had an engineer look inside the boiler and he can't see anything wrong. I've checked the pipes all over the house and cannot see any...

I want to reconnect some outbuildings to an existing water supply. The supply pipe is old 22mm MDPE and buried for a fair distance so not going to dig it up and replace it 😬. Question is can I use normal 22mm plumbing push-fit connectors to make the connection as finding 22mm MDPE fittings...
