Hello I was wondering if anyone had any info on how to convert to a pipe fitter from being a qualified plumber? Any info would be greatly received thanks

I trained as a pipe fitter welder but there where a lot of lads started as pipe fitters mates and worked there way up most with no papers not sure if its still the same now.most things these days seam to have qualifications think the days of just being good at something have gone
 
Cheers it would be great if I could get on as a mate will have to see what happens, hear a lot of stories of people who just blag it but knowing my luck it wouldn't work haha rather do it the right way
