Just had a call

Can you quote to change my bath taps?

Me - not at 9pm in a Sunday I can't

Him - oh ok is it not a good time

Me - no it's not, thx, bye

Is it me? I'd never phone someone at night. It's how I was bought up.

When you've finished work just leave the phone go to voicemail and put it in a drawer, it's the only way it works for me any urgent calls from family etc go to the wife anyway.

Why not wait 12 hours then make a phone call? We do TRY to have a life aswell.....

Should have popped round tonight and charged him the callout fee and Sunday rate!

I hate bath taps. Gotta be up there with toilet syphons as the most tedious, soul destroying jobs.

Had one of those awkward calls tonight. A lass at the running club who I've spoken to twice I think in, like, 2 years. Don't socialise with her or know her other than that. Got my number through a mate at the club.

Boiler has stopped working, can you come and look at it urgently as my kid is cold..

Sure thing, can pop out tomorrow after work, normally £60 plus VAT to diagnose problem, will do it for you for £50 plus VAT as you are a member of the club..

Queue awkard silence....

I genuinely think she was expecting me to go out for free. Really ****es me off that does! People who don't think about you at all until they need some help.

I'm a bit surprised that you answer the business phone at this time of night. Wouldn't a well worded voicemail message screen most of this out? Even maintain a separate cheapy phone so you can advertise an emergency call out number (with appropriate charges).

had one ring me at 6 o'clock, ignored it,was on the beach with mrs and kids, let it go to answer machine,i don't care if your boilers broke,Sundays family day, ring on monday

I have a version of that, my lovely wife screens all late night and week end calls. Her surly tone and "is it and emergency" have a good effect. she will occasssionally take a number for me to call the next day or monday or they get told to call my mobile during normal office hours, she is wonderful....

Ive literally just had a text at 10:15pm to fit an outside tap.....

I know a text isn't as bad but come on

The call I got yesterday was, 'can you replace my diverter valve on my worcester boiler for me, I have ordered genuine parts. Me, how do you know the diverter needs replacing, him, because I took the microswitch off and had a fiddle, I am good at electrics. Me, you shouldn't be going inside your boiler in the 1st place and sorry, I am busy
