I fitted a new expansion vessel and prv on a heatslave today the bloke phoned me and said "the pressure has gone up a bit when the heating came on so I released some pressure from that tank you installed today"

FFS what is wrong with people!

Sounds like my dad. Was it a retired gentleman with too much spare time on his hands?! He's in B&q every day. I'm sure the orange apron people groan when he walks in!

No he is a bloke around my age and is a floor fitter so thinks he knows a bit.

Some people you just can`t help mate and others know best. (Or think they do that is).

Remember one ..................
Just walked in the door and he said "Hope you`ve brought the parts", he had been on the web and figured he knew what was wrong and how to fix it but didn`t want to do it.

15 minutes later and the jobs done without using any part but he still paid for the parts as the customer is always right Yes?

I'd charge for my return visit and let him know how much of a Wally he is

One of neighbours asked me to look at their leaking Vaillant, said to me 'I saw that thing was full of water so I emptied it'. That thing being the condensate trap that is meant to be full of water to stop the risk of carbon monoxide leaking through it! Told him not to touch his boiler again!

Had one this morning. He texted me an hour before I was due to turn up offering to drain down to save me time.

"Thanks for the offer but best I do it. See you soon" Was my polite reply.

went to a polish guys house few weeks ago to a baxi solo not working.
stripped it down to find fan knacked, got a screwdriver out and gave fan a flip and started up.
i then put it all back together and told him i would source replacement and get authorisation from landlord to proceed.
i also told him i might be back later in the day to fit it otherwise call to arrange date.

well, i did call back a few hours after and found the boiler casings off an fan spinning. he told me it stopped again.
gave the prat a right rollocking and he gave me a bottle of quality import vodka :)

Go back and make it clear there is a charge if the fault is not yours.
Just explain your guarantee doesnt cover stupidity.
