I'm in the process of increasing my workload by sub-contracting for other plumbing firms. Enquired with one today about getting paid after submitting an invoice for day work and was told it would be 30 days.

Is that industry standard? It's actually put me off getting more work from them as I would have thought 7 days would be reasonable.

A firm I Sub contract from are 60 days from invoice, once you get past the first invoice period it doesn't hurt too bad.

The 30 days they are referring too...

Is that 30 days from the date of the invoice or 30 days from the end of the month.? ( up to 60 days)

Prior to me starting any work with a new builder or company, I want clearly defined payment terms, and I want it in writing.

If the money is not paid on the due date, I get on the phone and start harassing.

I've been offered some subby work lately, I've never subbied for anyone though so I'm a bit unsure. Pros, cons anyone?

Every company i have worked for always pay the next week, couldn't be
dealing with waiting 60 days for payment.

Once you get past the first invoice it's okay, I don't do a lot for them but the pay is above average so it weighs in my favour in that sense.

Some PAYE jobs you start working a month in hand so 30 days is about average. Some of the local authorities and large companies are 60 to 90 days.

Have done 30 days of invoice before so i would ping invoice in sharpish. Its a poor way to get paid and easy for firms to bump you

Always been 2 weeks whether it's through an agency or direct to company. Luckily never come across 60 days...... Thank god

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

Ideal Logic 24, Previous problem was that the hot water was only cold or barely warm if the heating was in use. If heating was off and boiler cold then would get hot water most of the time. Changing the flow cartridge about 2 years ago (when I moved in) solved this problem enough to suffer it as...
