Hi to all specialists and happy new year. I am looking for some advice re a situation that I cannot resolve.
Over the last 5 years I have built a 3 storey house in Skovakia ( I am a Brit and my wife is Slovakian). I employed the local specialist to supply and install a quite complicated heating and hot water system comprising:

1 x Vaillant 30kw gas boiler
1 x 27 kw wood burning furnace with heat exchanger
1 x 300 litre domestic hot water tank
1 x 1200 litre hot water accumulation tank ( heated by the furnace)
Full underfloor heating circuits controlled by room thermostats.
A central controller that is supposed to 1) control the furnace circulation pump 2) control the flow of stored hot water to the underfloor heating circuits 3) control the domestic hot water circulation pump.

There are 3 grudfoss pumps and a couple of valves to ensure that the underfloor hot water does not exceed damaging temperatures.
A number of temperature sensors ( furnace water temp flow/return) ( accumulated water temp at various levels) domestic hot water etc etc have been installed of course

My problem is that the installer does not really understand how it all should be set up. His engineers have visited a number of times and made some adjustments but the whole system is unstable and requires al most constant attention.

Bizzarly if I let the furnace burn out and the vaillant boiler takes over, everything works fine. So I guess that fundamentally the system is ok.
I really want to use the wood burner as it is very warm and due to the thermal mass nature of Eastern European houses can keep the house at more than 25 degrees even if the outside temp is minus 20!

The whole thing got too much when 3 nights ago the circulation pump controller lost its memory (again) and we ended up with the circulation water boiling and then venting via the safety valve. Th installer had not plumbed the vent externally so we filled the entire basement up with steam. I ended up dousing the fire with a hose pipe!

I guess I need to source a reliable controller ( preferably supportable across Europe but at least with english support and a decent company to install it?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Again happy new year.

Time to get someone in who specialises in solid fuel to have a look at the stove side

Hi Doug Green, having apraised your problem/s and read that there are no local engineers that you trust I suggest you call in a Uk outfit to go over your installation. A competant engineer will be able to offer a hands on survey advise you how to proceed.
Unfortunately I am unavailable until at least Easter 2019..however if you are serious I might be able to recommend an expert whom you might fly out to survey your system and advise you. He is conversant with most European systems and suppliers...his links are direct to Italy which makes sense ...your call

Hi Rob
Thank you for the quick reply. I would be very interested to speak to your specialist colleague re a solution. I have attached a couple of images of the system controller to allow him to conduct some research prior to committing to any actions.
Cheers
Doug

Very much appreciated. I guess this is a great reason for internet knowledge sharing forums.

I have spoken with my colleague on your behalf. His name is Ian Law md Ron Law heating, call centre 01704 222 000, he will help you and would be prepared to fly out at your cost etc. Call into the swtichboard, state your business, maybe leave your details with his gatekeepers . Bear in mind he is fully commercial and would expect a fee after initial phone advice.
Mention that I raised your problem with him to the operator. regards Rob Foster

Hi Doug, a couple of things that may help prior to Ron flying out.
If you dont have it, can you get hold of the installation manual in english, this will include the wiring diagrams. Also not sure why controller is loosing memory, presumably , a small power cut ? - If this is typical of your electricity supply, then a small UPS system installed ahead of the power supply to the controller will help. I dont know about this system but generally updated parameters are automatically stored in non-volatile memory but some systems require you to do a "Save" after updating parameters, otherwise they are lost after a power cycle.
Looks a great system BTW

TBH probably cheaper to get the manufacturers out

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...
