Old & New Bath Taps & Connectors

I went to a job the other day to change a bath mixer tap.

It's fed with 22mm copper with what I'm sure were 22mm x 3/4" female iron couplers. Attached to the irons were 3/4" to 1" offset connectors which the tap screws onto.

The existing pipe distance is 180mm. The new tap is 150mm.

The tap I was going to replace it with has a similar threaded offset connector but is 1/2" x 3/4", the tap connecting to the 3/4" side of it.

I can't seem to find a 22mm x 1/2" iron coupler, so can I get different threaded offset tap connectors????? I'd need a 3/4" x 3/4". I'm a little confused... Would I need to reduce the 22mm copper to 15mm in order to fit a 15mm x 1/2" iron?

In the wall you've got 22mm (or 3/4"cu) x 3/4 F.i. ?

You want to put 1/2" M.i (the new tap offsets) into the wall ?

= 3/4" x 1/2" brass reducer in the Wall.

Why not just use a 1/2" brass bush & use your exiting tap & offset connectors, rather than looking for 1/2" to 3/4 offset connectors?

I think a bush is the best option.. I didn't think of this at the time. Was a majorly bad day! Cheers guys, much appreciated

I'd use loctite sealing cord also as it allows you to twist or undo the trappings without fear of the bushes leaking in the wall... Or so they say anyway lol!

I'm going to have to take some of the tiles out and hack off some plaster to get the the iron aren't I?

Hopefully not, depends if the old ones unscrew from the wall...

id make the bush onto your offset Tap tails first & then screw them into the wall

Use Loctite 577 as it locks the fitting in place as well as seals it.

If the last guy did that then I'm gonna have to replace the irons, no? Which means taking tiles off etc
