can i fit one of these?Adjustable Mechanical Level Gauge 1.8m - Toolstation

Don't know about what you have there, but that mechanical gauge from Toolstation went out with the Ark IMO. Been many years since I have seen one. They had a tendency of the float not moving and the tank being empty when the gauge indicated plenty oil.
Apollo oil tank remote gauge would be handy

I like the apollo ones.

Yes. They are so easy to fit and seem reliable.
I personally would rather not have any oil gauge and just take a look into the tank every few weeks.
Oil tube gauges are very popular here, but risky things in many respects and tubes need replaced often.
