My phone died tonight....
Not a biggie I hear you say...
It had my last 3 years contacts, my work diary for the next couple of weeks, my customers adresses, notes about what is needed for a quote I have to do and many, many more crucial things!!!!
AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I really should have backed it up more often or kept a paper trail but it was one of those things that I was always going to do 'soon'!!!!!
Tomorrow I'll be expected by a customer called Ste to replace a radiator (I have already bought the radiator - a 6 foot stelrad softline) and I have no idea what his number is or where he lives. I'm supposed to be doing an over filling toilet on the way back from that. I have to ring a landlord about some work I did for him while he was on holiday. I have to ring a customer who I'm doing an insurance job for to tell her about the tiler I'm going to be subbing to. Nooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!!!

Absolutely gutted, take this as a warning fellow forum users.
Don't keep all your eggs in one basket :'(

mate im really gutted for you ! that is horrible times are hard enough without the extra hassle for when you do have work ! if you use your phone that much get the iphone ! atleast it backs itself up over wifi to the cloud everynight ! it wont miss nothing ! easy to say now but i do recommend it !

Andriod phones are also easy to back up online with a google account . . .. .

BAck ups are very important!

That is a real nightmare.

There are a lot of companies who may be able to restore your data, try googling it. Not cheap but worth it perhaps

Bit late I know, but if you put everything into iCloud it will automatically copy everything onto all of your other apple devices. In my case that means iPad, my wife's iPad and iphone and my laptop, so we would have to be very careless or unlucky to loose it all !

Sorry just re read the post and realised iCloud was not an option. I know apple generate business by dropping support for older devices with new versions of the OS, but it's a great excuse to buy new kit

Yes actually - the phones storage may well be intact even if the phone is not functioning!

9 times out of 10 it isn't the storage that is the problem but another component. Therefore all your data is still there.

Check a specialist who it may well be worth paying a few quid to extract the nessesary data. They may even be able to put it on another Iphone for you if you have a replacement which may be the best possible result for you.

If you are lucky all that lost info is still sitting there in your redundant phone waiting to be extracted!

Let us know how you get on - good luck!

Unfortunately all the data has been wiped from the phone. I shorted the logic board when replacing the dock connector and it got stuck in a boot loop when I powered it up. Last resort was a restore which wiped the data and my last backup was yonks ago :(
Very sad day, I will miss my iBaby

I find boilers hard work to understand so the last threads left me??????????????????? Diary and biro £4.50 + 20p lasts a year then another £4.70, seems the modern age isn't always right or best:)

Gutted!

Try phoning your network provider, some can restore your phone for you (pictures and phone numbers, so I assume other stuff too). Worth a try.

Also try calling Apple perhaps. They've been awesome every time I've phone them with issues. They certainly know their products.

When you do a restore, it should have backed up beforehand. So perhaps double and tripple check that you can't do another restore, but select the most recent backup date (which will hopefully be just before it wiped it).

Good luck. Don't give up yet though!

Are you sure? If so then that's great news! I'm supposed to be getting a phone with a broken screen in the next few days, I'll pop my screen in it and then update from the last backup. AFAIK as long as my old sim card is in the new phone it should allow a backup even though it's a different phone.
Cheers for that Dan, I was resigned to losing everything until I read that :)

image.jpgBut whatever you do , don't send it to dan for repair as this was the last one he did lol

the wifes i pad could be a dodgy one

Sorry to hear, i have learnt my lesson and for years now back up all the time and on different computers also use a wireless back up as well (mines a blackberry) you just cant take any chances theses days

Yeah you do realise that when you 'delete' data it stays on the storage and is actually deleted when a file actually needs the space.

Best check still as it may be there - check all options !
