Hi

Hoping someone can help. Had a new boiler fitted and suspect engineer never carried out magnacleanse tho was quoted. Any suggestions to know or what could do? Thanks!

Would recommend you go back to your engineer and ask them if they did it ? If they are 'honest' they will give you the right answer!
Also suggest you check for sludge yourself. Do you have a magnaclean installed ? I would think if you had quoted a magnacleanse then you will also have a magnaclean installed?

Thanks spoken to engineer said ran cleaner through system at start but didn’t open up radiators or agitate radiators because could make loose on wall and damage pipe work just opened up bleed valves on upstairs and ran chemical through and drained system out. Sound normal for magna flush?

Sounds like it hasn't been flushed using magnacleanse but maybe it wasn't necessary?
You can discuss it with the installer or ask for a second opinion although you may need to pay for it.

As 'Last Plumber' says it maybe wasn't necessary to be flushed using magnacleanse?
As he also says you can "discuss it with the installer or ask for a second opinion"
What I would do in advance is check for sludge yourself. eg. If you have a magnaclean installed just check if its collected any significant magnetite. If not and the system is working ok, then leave well alone!
If its not broke ..... Just wait for its annual service.

Personally I like to use my magnacleanse unit together with a powerflush pump just to assist the traditional powerflush process. FWIW, I've tried circulating X400 for the maximum time Sentinel recommends and it didn't seem to free anything off noticeably (though perhaps it loosened things up ready for the acidic cleanser used for the powerflush itself?), so I remain sceptical of any chemical that claims it eliminates the need for high flow rates as used in the traditional flushing process. "Magnacleanse" flushing relies on a chemical and agitation without anything but the normal cirulator to pump the water around.

The "Magnacleanse" process should involve turning individual radiators on and off and agitation, so sounds like it hasn't been done properly. Agitating the radiators should not damage pipework, by the way, or make the radiators loose, unless your system is severely on its last legs, but not saying he's talking carp as haven't seen your system. Could be that the flush was a precautionary measure on a generally clean system?

Tbh you’ve paid for it so either gets done or 300 knocked off the bill
