Discuss Leaky back screw male to female 1/2 junction for shower outflow. in the Bathrooms, Showers and Wetrooms area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi there

I connected a new shower wand which has a chrome outlet back into a 4" inch thin wide wall and comes out to a 1/2 inch male. I put a 1/2 inch female screw (90-degree bend to a 15mm compression join) over it and tightened it and used PTFE tap ( alot) to seal but the female fitting butts up against the retaining screw and drips when I did the pressure testing of the circuit with a pipe stop end at the end of the shower fitting..

Should I just plaster it with more PTFE tape or find another fitting which is thinner, if there is one? I have looked for a thin female 1/2 but they seem very standard.

Any ideas would be great?

Best

Matt

Did the old one drip, is the female fitting perhaps split open. If it is a slow drip then perhaps a light smear of LSX over the tape might help. But not if the fitting is split of course.

15 wraps ?

Hi

This is a new install with new components which i need to tile over so like your idea about LSK but rather get it right first time without leaks if possible.
