Discuss Kitchen tap-safe to use outdoor hose attachment? in the DIY Plumbing Forum area at PlumbersForums.net

Hi everybody

We currently have an issue with our outdoor tap (possible issue with the check valve-not overly urgent and I’m not confident enough to start a repair job myself in the current climate).

Due to the dry weather I am keen to keep the garden watered and have managed to get a hold of a Hozelock mixer tap adaptor. I am just wondering if this is safe enough to use-ie do mixer taps have a check valve to prevent backflow when the hose isn’t on?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

no they dont but if your sensible eg just for watering plants by hand eg with a spray attachment you should be ok

I've been using a hozelock attachment on my mixer to water a freshly seeded lawn with no issues but it is the older type of mixer
