Kitchen tap not triggering boiler

I'm having a problem with my kitchen hot tap, in that it won't give me any hot water. There is great water pressure, and no problem with the water coming out, but the boiler won't kick in for it, and so no hot water. We have a combi boiler. Running a hot tap in the bathroom for a minute or so means the boiler kicks in and you get hot water, and the shower is hot, so I know the boiler is working. I had noticed that over the last couple of months the kitchen tap had to be run for longer and longer before the hot water came through, and now it just doesn't. Any suggestions on what's going on, and how to fix it?
