Hi i am servicing my first conventional flue boiler a Potterton KingFisher 2 ,is there any thing i should be aware of, or any tips would be grateful

its one of the simples boilers to strip down and clean, ventilation flue pull and spillage are very important

gb-gas

Try not to burn your forearms when doing a spillage test. also clearances around the boiler are important aswell. They are very simple to strip and clean though.

Check:

Ventillation (correct size, not closeable, flyscreens, blockages etc etc)
Flue flow (flue pulls well, no signs of damage to terminal, no spilling from boiler etc)
Spillage (check it doesnt spill, look out for any dark marks around draught diverter)
Burner pressure (make sure its within the limits)
Performance test (use a flue gas analyser to check combustion if you feel like it, not necesaryy)
Check burner (no cracks, insulation not damaged, no signs of sooting on heat exchanger, good flame picture)
FSD (make sure gas valve shuts off if the flames go out)
Clearances (make sure theres adequate room around the boiler as per MI's)
