Can somebody please help! When we turn the room thermostat on we are getting a loud buzzing sound coming from the junction box which stops when you turn the thermostat off. We have checked the relay/solonoid in the junction box and it appears to be slightly charred and we were wondering if it has burnt out? Would somebody be able to advise how we should proceed and whether we can purchase a new relay?

:welcome: to the forum Julie :)

Is the relay you are talking about under a metal cover? If it is duoflow the junction box is the RJ2802 ... Google it and you'll find its still available ... I don't know if you can get the rellay separate?

Is the box gray box with maybe satchwell on it ?,if so this system uses a reply for the motorised valve operation,as said

yeah, mad old satchwell relay boxes. If you're not competent just get a competent sparks or gas reg engineer to replace with standard junction box. it's really that simple we come across lots of these on our patch. god knows what satchwell were thinking when they made them.

Hi
thanks for this info. I have goggled the item you mention but none of the sites are showing a picture which I need to see to confirm that I am looking at the right item so have emailed the company to confirm that this will be a good replacement.
thanks
Julie

Hi - yes it is a Satchwell relay box! I know that they don't make these any more but have found something with Sunvic which may be suitable. Alternatively we will look to replace with a standard box. Would you know why it it buzz's loudly when we turn the room thermostat on?!

The relay in the box is on its way out,I would remove box and valve and install spring return type, however you maybe able to get plug in replacement relay from an electronics outlet
If you gat someone in though as said replace the lot, cheaper in long run
imho
