I am looking to save water - primarily by adding after market products to my shower and taps to reduce flow rate.

The water companies offer many products to reduce flow rate on visible pipework but my plumbing work has isolation valves on every pipe before every tap.

Is there any reason why I cannot just adjust the isolation valve to reduce flow?

At the moment mine are fully open and obviously only closed for maintenance - I am not sure if they are designed to be half closed for general use... ?

No that is not the way to go bud you will cause noise desturbance up the pipework your valves will sieze half open and you still have no way of knowing how much water your using , contact your local water company they can advise you on ways to save water many also offer products free of charge which you can fit ,they will look something like this mate cheers k

They make isolation valves with flow restrictors to specific flow rates.

Thanks, yes I did see that you can get special isoaltion valves but I bet with my luck it is not a case of just switching them over. I think it may be easier to go with the end user fitted bits as above.

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...
