Looking to install a 250L stainless indirect cylinder as part of a barn conversion. Any recommendations as to good brands e.g. RM, Main, Santon, Gledhill etc? They all seem well specified these days but do some have better flanges or general construction? Rather pay a few £ more now to ensure painless installation and quality downstream. Will be G3 installed, just working out the shopping list!

Find out the type of water you have available and get a tank that is made of the type of stainless steel that will cope with the water type better.

Plenty of different sorts of stainless steel and some cope with harsher water than others.

There will be some small print in the warranty of the tanks that stipulates the type of water necessary for the warranty to be valid

Virtually every manufacturer of stainless steel cylinders say something different about their particular cylinder. Made of " corrosion resistant stainless steel, special stainless steel, Duplex stainless steel, special Duplex, or 304 grade, or 316 grade."
Hard to say what is best. Avoid the low grade stainless steel for sure and then only other thing is recommendation, as you are doing.
