Hi guys,

I've moved into my new house and I find there's a lot of creaking and popping when the heating comes on. It comes on as soon as the boiler comes on so I think it has something to do with the water pressure in the system so I'm thinking of turning down the pump speed (I've already bled the radiators and this actually made it worse).

I've looked up the user guide and there's reference to using buttons under the LCD screen to go through menu's etc but my boiler doesn't have these buttons? Does anyone know hoe I can achieve my goal of turning the pump speed down?

TIA

Expansion of copper pipes very common

You need some hair felt between the copper and the timber joists

That would make sense if there was heat in the pipes but you can hear the pump coming on and the noise starts straight away even before the pilot light comes on

Yes flow of water will do it

Is it on pre heat?

I hear what your saying all the time from customers who have these.

if pre heat is on turn it off .
The pump is very noisey on these boilers and unfortunately this boiler is a overated pile of junk

I disagree the new Ideal boilers are good, easy to fit and easy to repair. They had a problem with heat exchangers a while ago but that’s been sorted now.

Every heating system is different and your problem is likely due to pipes moving or old radiators ticking. If the boiler isn’t very old phone Ideal and see if it’s registered, it may still be under warranty. The logic plus have a 7 year warranty. I’ve fit loads and find them pretty quiet.

Now Worcester is an over rated boiler :p Harder to install hard to repair and full of plastic parts that fracture.

You say New House ! if this is a new build have a word with the house builder, if older property and boiler is still under warranty then call out Ideal, don't mess around with something you don't understand you could make it worse.

I don't think it's the boiler itself it's just the creaking / popping in the pipes. I've overlooked something it's the ideal 30 and not the 30+ which means there's not meant to be controls on the front which kills that idea. I suppose the only way is to get under the floor boards and sorry it out there. The pressure sits at around 1.25 bar. I have noticed however that when the CH is on that the pressure goes up close to 2 bar is that normal? Also I don't have DHW preheat on so it is switched off
