A few threads on the plumbing courses forum got me thinking. What age do you think is too old to change careers??

I'm of the view that the trade starts to knacker the body out in the late 30s. Obviously it depends on many factors, but for me it's been 8 years of bathrooms and heating installs largely and my body is starting to show the signs of wearing out!

At what stage would you suggest someone thinks twice about it???

Get ready ..... I was about 41 when I decided to do it properly and get qualified etc , but I had done a lot of plumbing prior to college . Went through all the C&G and NVQ 's
It worked for me so all these guys who think 30 is too old , well it isnt , however like any job or career , you have to be commited and give it 100% , I still do and always will .

We all know the job takes a toil on parts of the body over time so wouldn`t recommend it if person already has medical reasons for seeking a change neither would I recommend it if the person has zero or limited experience in working with their hands, guess around +30 to be a cut off point.
