Hi all,

I wonder if you can help me. I'm fairly new to the plumbing game and I'm finding it difficult to price work. Here's the scenario: I need to install 2 new rads in 2 rooms upstairs. The room was at one stage one big room and has a stud wall now dividing it. The work would involve teeing off from the nearest available branch pipe and running pipe underfloor to where they want the rads. I would like to price it as per the job and not by the day. Does anyone have any advice? They have a combi boiler sealed system. Is there anything I should be aware of? How much do you think I should charge them? I live in SW London. Thanks for your time?

Jamie

tbh if youre that new this is going to take you most of the day probably
so pricing is whatever your happy to earn for a day
as a guide i would charge this at 200.00 for the day but you may be happy earning less??
if you take your time and do a good job then there is no reason you shouldnt get paid the going rate
newness isnt a reason for charging less customer will want a neat tidy job if you can do this why undercharge??

wow quick response thank you. Do you think i need to drain the entire system as the rads are upstairs or can i just drain the top floor and be alright?

personally i would drain the system less chance of any potential mishaps
some experienced guys will say do this do that etc but why take a chance
for the sake of about a ten minute drain down..combi systems rarely have a problem refilling and you can blled the rads after and also the pump and use the auto air vent

Buy the inhibitor at trade and charge the customer the list price.

Hi Jim. Couple of hundred sounds about right, but remember. Once you price a job. The time is yours. Drain down while fixing rads to the wall etc, Its a totally different mindset to being employed. Just turn it into cash, no more boredom. Good Luck

I was stupid enough not to check the position of the pipes under the tiles when installing a toilet and drilled right through the center of a 16 mm copper water pipe. I exposed the pipe by removing a ~30cm section of the plastic sleeve and a ~10 cm section of the pipe around the hole. Several...
