Just wanting to see the different ways people do it when accuracy is involved

thanks!

Spirit level usually or sometimes the Dewalt lazer level if its to hand.

That's cool, what if the valves are a good 6 inch away from the wall? Just eye it up with a spirit level then?

(if close to a wall)

check wall is straight and measure to centre of each valve and mark on wall

(if not close to wall)

use a reference on the jig and measure from that or stick a bit of 15/22mm in the fitting and mark center

A pencil mark just below boiler, exactly centre
Most templates will have dimensions from centre line of boiler to supply pipes

As above I usually use the paper template as a reference and mark the wall from their, although I usually don't clip too close to the boiler to allow slight movement in the pipe work for future maintenance

i strike a line center drill flue hang boiler then measure of the center line either way for each pipe

i strike a line center drill flue hang boiler strike two horizotal ines where i want the line of clips then measure of the center line either way for each pipe

Depends on wether existing or new...

If installing new then check where joists are (if running pipes) and position boiler central between joists where possible... (makes life easier) after finding centre point then use laser level to mark a centre line and then mark where clips are going from that. After that I get the mounting template out and mark the flue centre, normally by hammering a nail into plasterboard as this pierces the paper and also acts as a nice pilot for your core bit.

If replacing an existing then its a toss up between what is more convenient, getting the flue through the same hole, or wether the pipework is exactly the same and redoing the core will be easier.

Best thing I ever bought was the laser level.. they rarely lie.

I have an ideal vogue max S18 boiler and I’m considering fitting auto balancing TRVs, my question relates to the boilers pump. I see a boiler pump menu for either 70% or 100%, so, is the pump set at either one of two fixed speed percentages or does the pump actually vary speed, (modulate)...

Hi they used to say as a last resort you could discharge the D2 pipework at high level and turn it back to the wall. Similar to a combi boiler. I have just looked back through the regs this seems to have changed and it isn't mentioned now. It now mentions if at high level it should be discharged...

We are from Alberta, and I own an electrical company. I have been asked by a BC Mechanical P. Eng. to install an emergency STOP button at the man-door to the boiler room. It's intent is to 'halt' the operation of the boilers in the room should there be an emergency. He is demanding that I do...

Hello, I am seeking some advice, I have a POTTERTON PROMAX 28 COMBI Boiler and I noticed yesterday that the water around the house is no longer warming up. The heat exchanger has been changed 6 months ago, so I do not believe it is that. Does anyone have any ideas on what it could be? Thanks
