Got a customer with open vented hot water and heating

She's got a problem with an airlock. Hot tap in loft space basin runs then stops no water out of tap, cylinder is on ground floor it's worked for 10-15 years no problems. Also the kitchen and bathroom down stairs runs then stops.

Any idears?

Can you do the old hand over a mixer trick

Done that before and it sorted but it's come back. I'm thinking it's a problem with the hot water having to go up to the loft causeing an air lock poss as the cylinder is down stairs.

Was thinking of fitting a small instantaneous water heater for the loft basin and cap off the hot water feed to the basin from the cylinder. Would that sort it?

Is there negative head pump ?

Pressure ok on the little vessel?

Any leaks round pump causing the vessel to loose its little precharge to start the pump up?

Dead mouse in the cistern outlet ?

anyone changed taps or turned a valve slightly

changed water level in the cistern

Sorry I'm just saying some random ideas

She has had new kitchen sink taps. Half turn disk type ones. Would that have cause dthe issue?

Is it all the hot taps just bath , loft and kitchen ?

If the cistern was drained to change taps could have let some rubbish down

If its all hot taps I would bung cold feed to hw cylinder and drain cylinder let cistern fill then let water go and hopefully will clear air lock / debris if that is the issue

or you could run some mains in to the hot
