Heating has stopped working boiler clicking repeatedly

my house immersion heater has started clicking repeatedly. My radiators are heating fine. Hot water works fine as well. I noticed the pressure gauge was at 0. I bled all radiators and refilled the loop with water so the pressure level went back to 1. I am all out of options. Help!

Thanks for responding. It is a Range Tribune HE. The sound is possibly a valve switching or failing to switching. As for a reset button I do not know. There is a switch similar to a light switch which was off. I tried to resolve this by turning the switch but this had no effect.

Yes I believe it is the silver one that is circled that is clicking.

Are you competent in electrics? If not You will need to get yourself an engineer out to fix it.

What is required? I am happy to open isolate a switch on the switchboard and fit a battery but not require or solder!

This is not my main boiler but a secondary or standby boiler upstairs. Is their any way to turn this off?

Yes but what I think they are saying is you’re not sure of the difference between your boiler and your cylinder so if you’re not sure there then dealing with a system full of water could be problematic. I’d get someone in

My house is still under the HSBC 10 year guarantee, in your opinion is this problem included? If not Would I need to contact both an electrician and plumber or just an electrician.

Last question, is it possible to turn of this boiler so it doesn’t click anymore. I understand this will not allow me to get the boiler function anymore but will at least allow us to get some sleep until it is repaired?

1. It won't be covered by the 10 year NHBC guarantee, unless the property is less than two years old, when it might be covered.
2. You need a plumber with what is know as a G3 qualification.
3. What you have in your picture is not a boiler, it is an unvented hot water cylinder (hence the need for a G3 qualification). It is heated indirectly by the boiler, and will probably also have 1 or 2 electric immersion heaters for use should the boiler fail. However, I can't see a suitable electric lead in your picture.
4. I can't tell for sure, but it looks as if the silver coloured motorised valve, which is clicking, controls the flow of hot water from the boiler into the coil inside the cylinder. TH heat from this coil is what heats your hot water.
5. If you turn the requirement for hot water off at your programmer, the valve will probably stop clicking.
6. If the boiler is no longer heating the cylinder, see if there is an electric immersion heater fitted. Then, if you do want the water heated, find the switch for the immersion heater and turn it on.
