Gas Jim

Hi all

Just a quick question after a few tips has im going to get my fire appliance next week, don't know too much about fires other than it works of a FSD. Just trying to put another feather in the cap!
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
Jim

i think you need to read your books mate and pay attention in your classes like everyone else on here has done at some point.

Ill give ye a tip. Not all fires have a FSD.
As Bob mentioned, get they books out. Read up on testing FSD's, Flue Flow, Spillage, Ventilation.

also hearth dimensions and catchment sizes as per CCN1, who trained you if you dont know anything about fires but are sitting your assessment next week, thats a bit scary

Justed read the replies i think youve misunderstood what i mean. I know how to test FSD, spillage, flow test, gas rate, ventilation. I was after some friendly advice/tips.As for training i work for a housing company doing service and repairs on boilers and bbu's everyday. I never said i didnt know anything about fires i just know the basics.

you are right we misunderstood what you said, because of the way you posted !!!!!!!!!
if you have passed CCN1 and are now going to do HTR1, you will need to look at the way the appliances are installed and find additional faults to those in CCN1, so look at hearths, coals, insulation, catchment space, suitability of the fire/flue combination, ie can the fire be fitted in a pre-cast flue, and then look at flueless fires(which you may have covered in CPA1) you will need to test with FGA
