Hi all,
am still training to get my qualifications, but a mate of mine has asked me to do a job for him.
Basically, some time ago he had a new kitchen fitted, but has been unhappy that he gets backup of water through the sink, when the washing machine is emptying.
Had a look for him at the weekend and think the problem is fairly obvious, in that the final outflow pipe - which carries the washing machine, dishwasher, sink - is actually fitted so the flow is UPWARDS....hence everything back up to the lowest point, which is the sink outlet. I am not qualified but even I know water doesn't flow upwards....

Cant get enough lift on the existing pipes to ensure the run is all downhill, so reckon I will have tio fit a new outlet to the soil pipe, much lower, but above floor level.

If this is not right then appreciate any advice, but think this is what I need to do, to ensure all outlets can properly discharge.
If indeed I do need to do this, what is the best option for :-

Capping off the existing hole/pipe.
Drilling a new outlet point just above floor level.
Fitting the Boss Connector (as doesn't look like I can get round the back of the soil pipe, as its tight against the wall), and ensuring sealed.
Do I need a trap before entering into the soil pipe (not one there now) ?

Advice/suggestioons appreciated,
Thanks

Is there a grated drain nearby or is the soil pipe the only option ?

Thanks Darren,+*
looked at that option, as hoped i could run the outlet through the wall, but there isn't an outside drain, so looks like soil stack is only option.
Cheers

If you can post a photo up of the existing pipework someone (probably not me! - but you never know!!) will be able to explain what's required. Could be something really simple or perhaps a new trap.

Hi, doesnt waste go through the wall anyway? Cant you chisel away some brickwork to get boss strap round?

Thanks,
no, the waste doesn't go through the wall but into the soil stack (no idea what it was like before, so I will have to check, but all boxed in with the new units, so not visible).
Suppose yes I could chisel brickwork away, but would rather not, as seems very intrusive option, but if thats what needs doing.

Cheers

Will try & get some pics and post up, but wont be for a few days- thanks for the suggestion though.
Cheers
