Evening all,

Came off the phone with the boss earlier after him asking me what £/ph I would be after if we were to take up a contract with a letting agents for emergency call outs. We, as a company already do general maintenance for them. I'm based in SE England and all work within an hours travel

I was after some.advice as in to what the average rate is for this sort of work. I was thinking of going back to him with two different time brackets. Say 5pm till 11pm and then 11pm till 7am.

What do you all think?
Cheers

When I did it it was time and a half between 1700 and 1800 then double time from 1800 onwards, didn't work past midnight ever.

have a look at pimlicos fees, then go back to the boss, but not many lettings agencys would pay what anyone wants.

As a Self employed plumber, my emergency call out is quite high, and I decide a price depending on what time and day it is,

But remember,
If you go to an emergency call out, your still in work the next day a X o'clock just with less sleep
You might end up missing out on a nice meal/date with the other half, (there never happy when you cancel plans)
Once your up in the middle of the night, have drove somewhere and sorted the fault, you might not get back to sleep and be in work the next day or out with family

This is why my emergency call out is high as I don't live to work, I work so that I can live

Ask if he is going to pay you a stand by rate, or if he's just expecting you to be called out, at any time, it needs to be done on a rota, So much for stand by, (inconvenience money) with a minimum pay of 2hrs

Tell him no amount of money's enough, call out is $hit.

2 & 1/2 time min 2 hours if called out then per hour
he should be charging client at least £150 per hour so go figure that out while he's in bed.lol

Hi. I'm having some issues with my boiler / central heating and have enlisted a local 'Combi Heating Specialist' to sort it out but he seems to be making things worse. I really need another expert's opinion, to put my mind at rest, or help me make the decision to stop using his services. I...

I have a contract with HomeServe to supply "emergency" plumbing service should I ever have a problem. Recently I was clearing out the gutters using a plastic yogurt-pot-type-thing to scoop out the crud. Unfortunately, this pot fell down the soak-away pipe that the gutters drain in to. I called...
