why don't they snap when the oil pump seizes ? ive had one the other day , oil pump completely gone, probably leaking aswell as I had to change bearings in motor as it was a bit hard to turn , but drive coupling was fine, I don't get it why they don't snap like a shear pin on a machine? cant make the motor much good that they don't??
 
If they made the drives able to snap if the pump seizes, then the drives would break too easily in normal use. The initial start of a burner motor is hard on the drives even when everything is working nice and free
 
Motors are designed for free running speed not for torque. Its torque thats needed to be able to shear something.
