I always would take the gun off and empty the gun and lock it off ...

I believe it is an lpg fuelled van, nothing to do with heat guns but a full leaky cyl could probably ruin your day, just stunned that the numpty couldnt smell anything, unless it was just sitting round his feet being heavier than air!
