hi guys, this might be silly question but will the new li-on batterys fit in a cordless drill fitted with ni-cad's,? or have the manafactures thought of that one so you have to buy the new package, ie drill, charger etc:cry_smile:

You could always try jump statring your old ni cads, last time i did it I got an extra six months life out of the batteries

thanks lads, looks like i'm gonna have to talk to wifey for some extra pocket money lol.

I've got a Ryobi that takes both Li-on and Ni-cad.

Bought it with LI-ON, rubbish batteries, both failed due to me running them completely flat, apparently.
Bought Nicads to replace them as 2 new Li-ons were more than the drill cost.

My Dewalt runs on both types. In fact I prefer the ni cads as the li ion batteries can overheat and cut out when subject to a load.

I've even got a couple of compatible batteries at half the cost from a supplier on Ebay and they are every bit as good as the originals.

My Milwaukee is a mans drill and runs on bacon butties and tea :)
