I have completed and passed my City and Guilds Level 2 6128 course (technical certificate in Heating and Ventilating) and have started out as a plumbing and maintenance man, self employed. I completed the course 18 months ago with New Career skills.

Business has not been too bad and have found quite a bit of work, especially through letting agencies. However I need more technical experience and knowledge and am not sure of the best step forward

New Career Skills are offering a NVQ2 course 6088 which follows on from my 6128 course. Price £2500

It is a lot of money but seems essential if I want to move on to doing site work and work with builders.

Has anyone done this course or are they doing it now?

Can I do this course anywhere else at a better cost?

Any help would be appreciated

thanks

Paul

Thanks fuzzy, yes I have tried the local colleges but none of them do the 6088 course. I have just tried the Bath area so it might be worth looking a big further afield.

There is also the opportunity of doing the Part P defined scope course with New Career Skills which is about £1000. It seems a good course as I have come across plenty of jobs where I have found having some electrical knowledge and skill would be very useful?

thanks

Paul

part p is good but you really need the nvqs mate, work hard on getting them, part p etc are only competence schemes not quals as such
