Got the above boiler. Pilot doesn't stay lit when you release the grey button on the gas valve. Replaced the thermocouple as the old looked shot. Is there a way of testing/proving the gas valve? Or any other thoughts?

Connected thermocouple to gas valve and hold other end and put lighter under it. If gas valve magnet does not hold on new thermocouple I would say it's the gas valve.

Can't you just change the magnet section on some gas valves?

can only be gas valve if tc replaced

If the flame is nice & big & defs covering the thermocouple then I would change the gas valve... I normally say to people if the thermocouple don't fix it it could be the gas valve, but gotta change thermo first anyway as its cheapest!

just try another thermocouple first and check connections are tight, been caught out before myself on failed new thermo or its got a poor connection
