Hi
Can someone please offer me some advice?
I am on a shared water main with 4 houses in my street and we are all experiencing banging from the coldwater pipes. I hear banging when I turn off my coldwater tap but also when my neighbours turn off their taps. I have also noticed that if my neighbour has his water running then my pipes don't bang when I turn my taps off and on. I have called two plumbers out who have told me it's nothing to do with my house and suggested I call out the water board. The man from the water board also told me it's not my pipes and that there could be air somewhere between the water main and one of the houses. Since then I have found out that one of my neighbours has a leaking overflow probably caused by a faulty ball valve. Is there anyway I can stop the banging in my house by for example fitting something like a shock arrestor or Mini-rester by my stop tap?
Any advice would be appreciated.

lever taps can cause banging when turning off high pressure instantly causing a shuddering stop to pressure, or pipes not clipped correctly can cause banging. you can get a pressure reducing valve. but without seeing it can be hard to say.

I've fitted an expansion vessel in the past to cure this. Might work for you.
