Hi,

So I've got a Valiant boiler less than 12 months old that seems to be dripping at a very slow rate (I've put a bucket there and it will take many days to fill at current rate). It only leaks when the heating is on, the pressure is normal and the heating works fine.

I've got Valiant coming out on Tuesday which is the earliest they can come, but am I safe to use the boiler? Problem I have is that my daughter has a condition that means we need to keep the house warm, I'm leaning towards keeping it on...if it makes the boiler worse then it's still within 12 month period (Valiant didn't tell me turn it off...and actually said they couldn't comment from a technical perspective until the engineer has come out).

I took the front cover off and brown water seems to be pooling at the bottom of the boiler (it's a combi by the way), and looking at the brown streaks of water on the various parts inside it looks like it is coming from somewhere further up the boiler itself and working it's way down which makes me wary with the electrics etc.

Would appreciate any opinions on whether I'm right in thinking it's only a small leak so ok for a day or 2.

Thanks

Have you called the installer?
You shouldn't take the case off

If you need to use it then use it, but it's at your own risk.

Yup. Installer is who is coming on Tuesday. Cover is on etc. It's just what I do in the meantime......

Thanks. I think I'm going to have to use it. It's covered so in theory even if it does get worse...it should still be covered - just annoying no one official from the company would give me any definitive advice

It's impossible to know the fault or potential risks from a brief description.
