Morning,

Can anybody reccommend what size accumulator would go with a 25kw air to water heat source pump? Its for underfloor heating and domestic hot water. is there a rule of thumb for working out the size.

thanks

Len

Hi Lenny

with Buffer tanks I would say go as large as is practible I have 25Kws installed on 1000 L buffer tanks, the absolute minimum I would use on a 25 is a 300L.

I would also say that unless your installing a high temp heatpump I wouldnt attempt to use it for domestic hot water it would be working far outside its working design parameters unless its only being used as a precharge for domestic hot water.

regards
mike

I concider the rule of thumb for sizing a buffer for an heat pump is 15l per Kw output of heat pump but I would always consult the manufacturers.

Also some manufacturers don't require a buffer, Mitsubisi being one and Kensa with their Ground source
