Hi, am getting our bathroom updated and local company suggested ditching our traditional attic CW tank/vented cylinder and pump for the shower and install an unvented pressurised HW cylinder instead. We have been told that this will not lead to a drop in effective pressure from the shower. Is this correct? The power shower gives a great output and i have already replaced a burnt out capacitor once and we do not want to lose any performance.

Our mains water pressure is high as we have fitted isolation valves to the CW taps, partially shut, to stop water blasting out of the sink. We have a WORCESTER 18i traditional boiler. Small 35 year old detached bungalow with one bathroom [shower, no bath]

You should take the static and dynamic pressure of the mains, you can buy a pressure gauge to connect to a outside tap, then open one or more inside taps and measure the flow/pressure.
What is the make/model and head of your pump?.

The pump is a Salamander , 18 years old ,but i dont know the model number and i am not at the house in question at present

Thanks for advice. running into problems thanking the others.
This is a follow up posting. Now have the unvented cylinder installed and happy with the shower performance. Compared to the previous salamander pump there is perhaps a minimal loss of performance but not enough to be obvious. Now have no pipes or pump in the loft to freeze so no longer a need to leave our attic access hatch open to stop the shower freezing. Looking forward to lower energy bills.
