Discuss Wall-mount mixer tap - lukewarm in the Bathrooms, Showers and Wetrooms area at

Hi all, I'm new to the forum

I have a wallmounted theromstatic bar-type shower in a house I bought 5 months ago. The water coming out of the shower gets barely above lukewarm - if I twist the thermostat for the heat _at all_ the water goes cold.

The bathroom sink taps (and throughout the house) work fine, otherwise.

Do you think I need bar or can it be repaired?

When you run the bar shower, turn it to full hot and put your hand on the left side inlet, does it get hot?

Also what system are you on, gravity or mains?

Yes, it worked for the first couple of months.

The hot water inlet isn't so hot that you can't touch it. You can comfortably keep your hand on it.

System-wise, we have a combi boiler on the floor below, so I guess it's mains?

    Is it a branded shower?
    Can you find instruction online

First thing to try would be the mesh filters on the inlet, turn the water off and open both the hot and cold taps downstairs. Take the valve off the wall and check the filters. If they are clear then it would point to the thermostatic cartridge. If you know what make and model the shower is then a replacement cartridge can be bought but if it's only a cheap bar mixer, you would be better off replacing it all.

It's not branded, as far as I can tell. I will look through the manuals previous owners left us, to see if there's anything there. I do know that it was fitted about 5 or 6 years ago.

Thank you both for your help!
