To get cheap insurance for my van I do the following:
do the comprison websites to see who is cheapest
only put the mileage I'm going to need more or less the same as last year
Play with variables, maybe add the wife
Then when got cheapest quote online, phone 2 or 3 brokers
This usually gets me cheaper then my friends!

Have you tried all of the comparison sites?

Try at least 2 comparison websites and then try some of the brokers for business insurance by finding them on google. A couple of hours will probably save you at least 100 quid. Sometimes hundreds. A buddy of mine in the trades had a load of accidents and many insurers were charging sky high - spent a day calling everwhere - saved him 1000 quid!!

Accident seems to be the main problem when getting quotes, managed to get my Vdub t26 covered for £353 all in thats with 6 years ncb and we wrote off the little van in a flood at xmas. despite the claim, it dropped by £30 ythis year. hastings van, great for old git vans
