Hi all

apologies if i am posting this question in the wrong place, if i am please advise where I should post it. I tried to call Vaillant to get he advice & was referred to a premium 0906 number so i thought sod that.

so here goes

Warmstart - my boiler has this feature but i dont know what it is & whether I should use it

anti cycling economiser - the boiler has this function but again no idea what this is, any ideas?

Am i correct that at cold the pressure should be at 1bar? If so at Hot with the heating on what should it be at max?

any other tips of best way to use it pls

Many thanks in advance

Bart

the fitter should have shown you how to use it 1.5bar wld be ok and this will rise due to hot water expansion but then drop again as it cools
the 2 other options not sure about

Taken off the vailant website, look up via installers pages

The boiler incorporates an anti-cycling economiser
control to prevent energy wasteful
ON and OFF operation of the boiler for short
periods when in the central heating mode.
When turning the room thermostat to a higher
setting there may therefore be a short delay
before the boiler operates.

The warmstart system of the ecoTEC combination boilers
provides you with hot water at the required temperature
immediately. To do this, the hot water heat exchanger
of the ecoTEC is kept at a pre-selected temperature
level and the boiler will therefore periodically operate
to maintain this temperature.

with warm start twist the dhw control knob fully maximum and then immediately to fully minimum - that will turn on/off. i believe they come set up at on so providing it hasnt been altered by the installer it should still be. with it on you might find it operating in the middle of the night possibly

Warmstart is indicated by a "C" in the display window (combi boilers only), as said in a previous post, it maintains the heat in the boiler so save the amount of water wasted before it runs hot at the tap. Unless you are metered for water and you use large quantities of water ( large family) I would recommend you turn this feature off as the gas used when this feature is turned on can be higher than the cost of the water saved, it can also lead to the plate heat exchanger scaling up prematurely.
Note: You will still get cold water at first as you draw off the cold leg (pipe work between boiler & tap) before the water runs hot even if Warmstart is turned on. To turn the feature off, turn the water control knob to minimum and the "C" should not be displayed, then set that knob to around 60C, if you turn the water dial to maximum the Warmstart will be switched on again. We set the pressure to around 1.2 bar cold, there should only be a rise of .1 or .2 when the boiler is at max temp when running heating, the expansion vessel my have lost air pressure if this pressure rises above 2 bars. Hope this helps,
Martin

Thanks for your advice guys its much appreciated.

I think given the advice on the Warmstart & with only 2 of us in the house I will leave this feature off. As from my understanding with it ON the boiler will periodically be using Gas to keep the water heated at the right temperature which I see as a bit of a waste. We are not metered for water & the only place i have a delay in the water getting Hot quickly is the Kitchen Basin which is the furthest from the boiler so I guess that wouldnt be helped even with the warmstart on.

I read in the manual the description of the Anti Cycling Economiser but it didnt make sense to me then & still doesnt :-(

thanks again guys
