I've got a scorch mark on the skirting board below the boiler because one of the pipes is almost touching the wood. I can just about get a sheet of paper between. I can smell burning due to the mark too. There is already a piece of plastic between the pipe and the wall. Can anyone advise me on what to do? Is there a risk the house might go on fire?

Is the pipe carrying flames or water or gas?

    Gas. It's a combi boiler.

    I'll have a go now. I'm a bit of a technophobe though.

I will bet £1 it’s a blow lamp scotch mark from when the boiler was fitted.

The customer. One easy solution would be to saw the skirting board off that is behind the pipe.

I would be gobsmacked if it’s the pipe that’s scorched it unless it’s a naff paint that’s been used for the skirting

There is no paint on the skirting board. I'll upload a pic in the next 20 minutes.

What are you asking ? this scorch mark is it supposed to be from
    1. a gas lamp during a recent fit
    2. a 'hot' pipe near the problem

    please advise with a piccy
