As above really. Vessel is leaking.

Have had one quote stating boiler must come off with a suitably high number attached followed by a suggestion that it might be better just to fit a new boiler.
Have also seen 2 plumbers of this parish say that its not that bad and can be done in situ in 2-3 hours.
Whats a man to do.

instant expn vessel dont last long and its a 10 plus yr old boiler. if the clever boys can do the job in 2 hours and leave it on the wall good for them as I dont put robo expn vessels on an instant personally. best to bin and start again if i were u. but others on site may well disagree!

never worked on one to behonest, but it says in the MI's that it has to come of the wall
to change the vessle how old is the boiler?

if it were a 80e or 105e id slap in a robo expn but as its an instant its off the wall to put in the baxi expn vessel only

they can be done in situ quite easily, however if you get a external vessel fitted the pre heat needs to be disabled

As lameplumber says if you can afford it go for a new boiler install. On a boiler the age of yours you are liable to start having more issues soon (you may be lucky). I would expect the 2 lads who say can change in situ are probably correct, but dependant on what your qoutes are i would still follow lame plumbers advice.

Might any of you chaps like to put a number on what any or all of these solutions might cost?
I had read about fitting an external tank but then read that since the existing one is leaking that is not possible?

Was going to put the house on the market next month so buying somebody else a new boiler was not really what I had in mind!

Also, what is a "robo"?
