I do a number of these up for people wanting period plumbing fittings. Prices start at £100 fully stripped down and refurbed with new fittings and ready to install. Choice of finishes and stains.

do you do any other period plumbing stuff? or is it just cisterns?

Yes I can do most stuff (or arrange for it to be done if needed). I have period column rads and rad valves too at the moment.

I also buy them as removed from existing installations. I purchase most types of antique reclaimed basins, WCs, brackets and fittings etc from the 1900s to the 1940s.

I don't bother with taps unless they are an unusual design or in really good nick as they are more trouble than they are worth to fix up.

Don't have any valves in at the moment. Rads are £16 per column (the larger ones) restored and painted and ready to fit. I have mainly the usual Ideal Standard 4 and 2 column ones at the moment.

As regards to your pan - I don't really do Victorian pans as they are tricky. You need to be very careful as they are glaze on top of stoneware and it is easily chipped or scratched and some modern toilet cleaners can spoil it.

I would advise you to ask on one of the specialist salvage websites. You got it for a very good price. I have seen similar for well over £100.

I love old stuff like that ,How about some pics of your handy work? :).

I have a pic somewhere of me welding up a new lead liner for an antique cistern. Will see if I can find it.

Some of the names you find on the old cisterns are great -

"Japkap"
"Hawk"
"The Thunderer"
"The Elite"
"The Ultima"
"The Dauntless"

Hi, I have a japkap wooden/lead lined cistern with a brass combined ball valve/regulator screwed to the top edge of the cistern. the small washer (in the sliding brass fitting) to the ball valve needs replacing. can you supply this part or indeed a new complete valve. bear in mind it is the screwed on top of the cistern type - I am reluctant to bore a hole through the cistern and fit a more modern one. thanks in advance dek

Hello,

I bought a Hawk Cistern complete with Japkap parts from a farmer. I test it, and it is watertight, but the japkap is dripping down the pipe like mad, and everytime I flush, it only squirt a bit. Not a proper flush. Any ideas before I go ahead and attempt to take it to pieces.

Our kitchen mixer tap has started dripping. Like so much of the plumbing in our almost new build bungalow, it is lacking! The plumber didn't install any isolating cocks in the H&C feed to the tap so how can I identify which of the valves is passing? Shut the whole H&C water system down?

I want to reconnect some outbuildings to an existing water supply. The supply pipe is old 22mm MDPE and buried for a fair distance so not going to dig it up and replace it 😬. Question is can I use normal 22mm plumbing push-fit connectors to make the connection as finding 22mm MDPE fittings...

Hi, Can anyone advise as to why the cold water to my bathroom keeps airlocking? This originally happened about 12 months ago and has happened 3-4 times since. It’s an upstairs bathroom, fed from a tank in the attic. The tank is about 8 Meters away and feeds a bath, sink and toilet. The tank...

We run a community village hall and have a large kitchen provided for the use of hirers. This includes a Lincat SLR9 gas cooker which I believe is a 23.8Kw appliance with all six burners and oven on max. This was installed some 10 years ago and has passed all subsequent Gas Safety inspections as...

Hello all, I'm would like to extend an existing outside tap to another point in the garden. I'm about to pour a concrete patio and was hoping to run the water line underneath. There are existing drain (and who knows what) pipes running along the same wall so I'm nervous about digging too far...
